Daily Wildfire Impacted ZIP Code Reporting
To assist our agents with delegated underwriting authority in managing IAT’s wildfire exposure, the Product and Regulatory Compliance group will resume daily distribution of the Wildfire Impacted ZIP Code Report on Monday, May 5, 2025. This report is a snapshot of wildfire activity in the United States and is organized by ZIP code, state and fire incident name. The report will be posted to the Specialty Portal each day.
New ZIP codes that are added to the report each day will be highlighted. ZIP codes that are removed from the report each day will be shown on a separate tab. We believe these enhancements make the report easier to use.
Remember, a binding restriction applies on all new business in any impacted ZIP codes shown in the Wildfire Impacted ZIP Code Report.
The restriction also applies to any change endorsements to property exposures, deductibles, or terms for currently written accounts.
Renewal business that has already been quoted in an impacted ZIP code may be bound – provided no changes are made to the previously quoted property coverages.
Binding restrictions are lifted for those ZIP codes shown in the “removed” tab of the report.
Remember, it is the underwriter’s responsibility to review the Wildfire Impacted ZIP Code Report each day to verify that business being quoted is not in an area threatened by wildfire.
The Wildfire Impacted ZIP Code Report will be distributed each weekday during fire season which normally lasts from early May through early November. The previous day’s report remains in effect until replaced.
Wildfire is a difficult peril to underwrite. The continued use of the daily wildfire impacted ZIP code report can help improve our risk selection and awareness, leading to improved results.
Please contact your IAT Underwriter if you have any questions about the wildfire report.
